CLUB NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

President’s Penning
Posted: February 27, 2019 at 2:37 pm by Nick Wagner

On Saturday, May 4th, 2019, we will meet at our Outdoor Range, for our annual clean up, repair and facility improvement day.

This is an important event as the projects our volunteers accomplish that day will help to assure that our facility is clean, safe, and ready for the shooting season, much of what begins in early May.

Over the past few years we have enjoyed spending the day with a small yet devoted group of members who have volunteered their time, skills, tools, and efforts to make this yearly event a success. We thank each of you for your service to the Club; we couldn’t do it without you.

With just short of 1,400 members I am confident that we can assemble a significant number of members to help us that day to quickly and efficiently accomplish our scheduled projects, among them being the improvements to the Archery Ranges, 50, 100, and Goff Ranges, as well as the Action Pistol, Trap and Skeet Ranges and Five Stand. We will update our web site as we get more information on the specific project requests for that day.

So, if you are able to volunteer part of your morning and early afternoon to help us and then enjoying some good food and drink, after we have finished the projects, please send an email to Steve Brown, our Facilities Manager – his email address is – sgbrown.smgc@gmail.com

We hope to see you there.

Till then,

Enjoy the Shooting Sports and Help Protect our Second Amendment.

Best Regards,
Tom

*UPDATE* Indoor Range Weekend Workforce
Posted: November 12, 2018 at 5:40 pm by Nick Wagner

I wish to thank all of our members and guests who assisted with the installation of the rubber mulch, the new rubber backers, the clean up, and all the other ancillary items we accomplished Saturday morning. It was great to see you all there volunteering your time and energy to assure the range portion of our indoor facility was ready for the air gun match Sunday morning. Thank You WMU Crew, you certainly made our collective duties less challenging. We look forward to having your Team involved in our club activities.

A special thanks to Phil Wilson, a long-time SMGC member and former board member. Phil generously donated a brand new 10 cubic foot apartment-size refrigerator for the kitchen. Thank You Phil, the refrigerator will be put to good use and will be cared for.

If any member has a connection with a supplier of base cabinetry and counter tops we are planning to redo the kitchen, a partial wall in the common area, and the south wall in the range area. This will not only provide adequate storage but useful counter top for shooters and their equipment. Please contact me if you indeed have a connection or suggestions.

As the next couple of weeks progress we will need volunteers, once again, to help navigate the safe and other equipment to their new areas within the building. I will do my best to give you all adequate notice.

Again, Thank You All for your help and your support of SMGC.

Tom McKenna
SMGC Safety Director
