Komen Shoot Annsounced: The 2010 Komen Shoot for the Cure will be held June 26. Shotgun, pistol, rifle, and archery events will be held. All proceeds will go toward breast cancer research and services. As usual, there will be many door prizes including a Springfield XD9 and a Ruger 10/22. This is a great event for a great cause. Please come out to support the cause and our club.

Magtech Cleanrange Ammo Use Suspended at Indoor Range: Until further notice Magtech "Cleanrange" factory ammunition is no longer approved for use at the SMGC indoor range.  Several large bullet fragments were recently found which suggest that the plating on these rounds may be thicker than we have thought it was.  We will be sectioning some of this ammunition to measure the thickness of the copper plating to determine if this is a problem.  Until the results of those tests are back the use of Magtech "Cleanrange" factory ammunition will no longer be approved for use at the indoor range only.  Note that this is the Magtech ammunition that comes in the green and white box with the large "Cleanrange" logo on it.  We will make a final determination on this issue as soon as possible.  Thanks for your cooperation.

M1s for vets: SMGC would like to recognize the service of our veterans by awarding a refurbished M1 Garand rifle to a veteran who has served since 9-11-01. For an application form, please click here.

Pistol Range Wall Construction Begins: Construction has begun on the bay walls on the pistol range. Many volunteers showed up to help, and I can guarantee that all left tired. The hard work, that of digging the holes and setting the posts, is done. From here on the work should proceed quickly. For photos, click HERE.

This Years First Practical Pistol...or Rather Practical Shotgun Shoot: Dave did it again. Never one to tolerate the same old thing, Dave created a shotgun only PPC shoot. It was reportedly quite a challenge. However, everyone had a great time. To see the pictures, click HERE.

Snow Shoot: Fifty-two "soldiers," many clad in uniform, shot period correct weapons to participate in the annual Snow Shoot. The event featured both rifle and pistol competition. The antique uniforms and weapons made this event great to watch.

Frosty Revolver Plate Match: Our stout hearted band of pistol shooters braved six degree (yes 6!) temperatures to shoot the first annual Frosty Revolver Plate Match. Frost-bitten trigger fingers couldn't deter this brave band of cabin fever escapees. In the end, Dave B. (who we couldn't even recognize under all his winter garb) won the match. For photos, click HERE.
Practical Pistol Xmas Shoot: On 12/15 the PPC shooters held a Xmas lunch and shoot at the indoor range. Here are the photos. Here are the scores.
