Range Safety Officer (RSO) Page

Changing to supervised shooting will require a significant increase in the number of range officers required to allow for adequate shooting times.  Because of this, a few SMGC members and an NRA instructor have volunteered to train, schedule, and manage the newly created position of Range Safety Officer (RSO) certified as such by the NRA.  The number of range officers that volunteer for this position will be directly related to the number of scheduled shooting hours that become available to members.

RSO News

Weather is warming up making for good outdoor range weather.  Get out and make gun smoke. If you can volunteer a few hours of your time every other month to help run the safest rifle/pistol ranges in the state, take the NRA RSO class and become certified by the NRA to run a range safely.

April 26th will be the next NRA RSO training class, from 9 AM to 3 PM at the outdoor range clubhouse. SMGC picks up the cost of the class and the first year of certification with the NRA. SMGC provides lunch, and you will be out by 3 PM. Call Greg to register for the class. His number is on the mailed newsletter.  Seating is limited to 20 participants.
