2.11.12 - Ruffed Grouse Society 22nd Sportsmen's Banquet

Conservation group to hold fundraiser dinner in Augusta - Proceeds used to restore and protect grouse and woodcock habitat.

The Southwestern Michigan Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) will hold its 22nd Annual Sportsmen's Banquet on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Gull Lake View Golf and Resort, 7417 North 38th St., Augusta, MI, beginning with a reception party at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

As is the custom at this event the evening will feature live and silent auctions, games, drawings and door prizes; highlighted with the finest selection of quality firearms, artwork and collectable’s.

According to Sally Altman, individual membership and dinner tickets are $55. There is also an optional family membership package for $90 which includes two dinners. Additional family dinners are available at $25 each. Banquet, Conservation and Sustaining sponsorship packages are also available at $275, $500 and $1,000 respectively

As with all RGS fundraisers, proceeds from this event will be used to restore and protect grouse and woodcock habitat.

Established in 1961, the Ruffed Grouse Society is the one international wildlife conservation organization dedicated to promoting conditions suitable for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and related wildlife to sustain our sport hunting tradition and outdoor heritage

1.18.12 - .22 Indoor Bench Rest Match Results

Ron Moiles will be running indoor .22 Bench Rest Matches this Winter.

Matches will be held on the fourth Saturday of January, February and March at the Indoor Range from 1-4 p.m. The range will be open at 1 p.m. with the match starting at 1:30 p.m.

Match Dates: January 28, February 25 and March 24.

We will have 6 firing points with indoor bench rests and chairs for use during the matches. Matches will be shot on the A-36 NRA target. Each relay consist of 10 minutes to shoot ten record shots (with unlimited sighter shots) on the A-36. We will have a target change and then repeat with another 10 minutes to shoot ten record shots (with unlimited sighter shots) on the A-36 for a total of 20 record shots.

Categories will be the same as the outdoor rim fire bench rest matches but will be limited to only .22 Rifles (no .17 Rifles): Sporter, Semi-auto, Light rifle, Unlimited rifle and .22 Rifles with Iron Sites.

Black powder matches coming to SMGC

Starting in April SMGC will host Black powder matches which will be held on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

Jim Crowe will be the match director and matches will start at noon following our .40 bore shoot.

All shooting will be done in the pistol pit at 25 yards. Shot are to be fired offhand with 10 shots on steel and 10 shots on paper with a 30 minute time limit. Patch and ball only with both primitive and modern rifle classifications.

All are welcome, please come and make this match a fun and successful adventure.
