CLUB NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

SATURDAY MAY 1 – RANGE CLEAN-UP DAY! 9:00am to 2:00pm

Projects list will be posted on the website in mid-April. Lunch will be provided.

All outdoor ranges, from air gun to the Goff range, will be closed for clean-up day.

SMGC SOP Update

At the April 7th, 2021 Board of Directors meeting the BOD accepted the proposed updates to the SMGC General SOP and By-Laws. Please review the updates to remain in compliance.

SMGC Is Open To Guests & Public Activities

GOOD NEWS! Members may once again bring guests and the club is open to the public. The clubhouse is also open but we do have restrictions in place such as a 10 person limit and a face mask that covers the mouth and nose is required at all times when inside. Disinfectant will be provided to wipe down surfaces and coffee service is not available. Social distancing is still necessary everywhere on the property to help reduce the spread of virus’s. Covid restrictions/procedures at the indoor range remain unchanged.

Ron Springsteen passed away Monday, December 28, 2020

Ron passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

He was born February 3, 1937 in L’anse, Michigan, the son of Leo and Leona (Gourneau) Springsteen. Ron served his country in the U.S. Marines. He worked at National Water Lift until his retirement. He was a champion silhouette shooter and enjoyed golfing, photography and his dogs. On April 20, 1962 in Kalamazoo he married Helen Lewis who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Sally Wagenaar of Kalamazoo, John (Pam) Walker of Kentucky, Jack Walker of Florida and Linda (Scott) Stevenson of Otsego; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeff Walker and siblings, Eunice, Alice and Shirley.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place.

Contributions in memory of Ron may be made to Southern Michigan Gun Club.

2021 SMGC ANNUAL MEETING & BOD ELECTIONS

Members, We will be holding our Annual meeting at the indoor range on January 6th 2021 The way in which we vote and conduct the meeting will be very different .

The building will be open for voting at 6 pm.

Masks/ face coverings are required for all who enter the building.

You will have several tables available as well as your ballots and a single use pencil. Please keep social distance , complete your ballot and drop it into the ballot box , then exit through the range area and out of the side door . lf you have mobility issues please exit back through the front door.

Voting will end at 7:30 pm

For the health and safety of the SMGC members , there cannot be an audience for the meetings

We are limited to the number of people that are required to remain in the building. The board sincerely hopes that you understand the need , and know that this course of action is provisional.

We will post the minutes of the Annual meeting and its reports in the February newsletter and on the website .

ON THE SAFETY FRONT
Another AED unit ( for cardiac events ) and a trauma kit w/ tourniquet for large wounds and blood loss have been placed on the front of the white shed between the 50 and 100 yard ranges in a weather proof cabinet.
